Caldwell First Nation - Finance Assistant
Position Overview
The Finance Assistant will provide a wide range of financial and administrative support to the Senior Financial Officer. This role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day bookkeeping functions, financial reporting, and general accounting duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Caldwell First Nation Finance Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accounting and bookkeeping functions with minimal supervision.
- Assist in the preparation and development of annual budgets.
- Support Accounts Receivable activities, including invoicing, deposits, and filing.
- Support Accounts Payable processes, including invoice processing and issuing payments.
- Payroll processing and preparation of government remittances.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with year-end audit preparation.
- Prepare Youth Trust letters, draft requests, and process payments.
- Support distributions to Caldwell First Nation members.
- Review funding agreements for financial and reporting requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of General Ledger accounts, reports, and financial policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate expense tracking related to program funding.
- Participate in cross-training on financial tasks within the department.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Accounting or Business Administration (required).
- Experience with Sage 300 Accounting Software (asset).
- Experience with Purely HR software (asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and high clerical accuracy.
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
