About the Role:
At Motive, our Risk Management team ensures the entire organization runs smoothly, scalably, and strategically. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced underwriting professional to join our Risk Management team. As an experienced underwriter, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing the financial risk of new and existing customers, while making decisions based on policy guidelines. You should have significant experience and subject matter expertise in financial services, end-to-end underwriting lifecycle, bank statement and financials decision, and risk assessment, as well as a strong understanding of Canadian federal and provincial regulations..
You will work as a member of our Risk Organization and collaborate with members from our sales, applied science, product management, and other stakeholders to deliver best in class customer experience. You'll evaluate applications, perform analysis that mitigate financial risk, and make timely and accurate decisions on application outcomes.
What You'll Do:
- Communicate application status and request additional documentation when needed.
- Make timely and accurate credit decisions based on policy guidelines.
- Validate documents authenticity and identify suspicious behavior and or trends.
- Create underwriting policies and procedures
- Perform financial analysis and compile underwriting memos.
- Set customer expectations and answer questions during the onboarding process.
- Closely collaborate with Sales, product and operations to deliver a world class customer experience
- Bilingual in English and French
- 4+ years underwriting in financial services, high-growth payments, or fintech.
- Highly analytical, collaborative, and independent problem-solver.
- Strong organization, time management and communication skills
- Knowledge of financial risk assessment principles and the Canadian compliance, lending, and regulatory landscape.
- Possesses expertise in both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in bank-based and financial underwriting.
- Self motivated, organized, and reliable, with proven expertise in mathematics and financial spreading.
Pay Transparency
Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. For this role, the compensation range is:
Canada
$86,000 - $128,000 CAD
