BDC Advisory Services provides entrepreneurs with top-notch management consulting solutions, offering the expertise, insights, and practical advice essential for establishing successful and resilient businesses. Our seasoned experts leverage their industry expertise and apply structured, business-oriented strategies along with established methodologies to deliver swift, pragmatic, and measurable outcomes.
The Client Partner is responsible for generating and closing new Advisory Services business, by fostering new relationships and deepening existing client relationships. As a skillful business growth architect, strategist and trusted advisor, the Client Partner 1) systematically identifies the essential needs of each Entrepreneur based on its growth journey 2) builds a plan to address these challenges and 3) effectively positions BDC's Advisory Services' expertise and diverse suite of management consulting offerings to address these challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
Client Partners work in cross-functional teams to generate impact for businesses in all industries and at every stage of growth. They must collaborate closely with the Bank's Financing teams to offer a seamless and holistic experience for clients and generate new business. Client Partners also work in concert with the Advisory Services Delivery teams to ensure successful Advisory project delivery and high client satisfaction. They play a pivotal role in managing the relationship between the Client BDC Advisory Services teams.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Client Partners are key representatives of Advisory Services and they are expected to:
constantly engage in business development activities to build and sustain a strong pipeline of opportunities.
close new business to meet performance objectives (e.g., annual sales and revenue targets).
evaluate clients' business needs using strategic questions, discussions, and diagnostic tools.
position appropriate advisory solutions and work closely with the delivery team and other internal stakeholders to develop Client proposals.
maintain strong engagement with Clients and close collaboration with the Advisory Delivery team to ensure the smooth delivery of advisory projects and high client satisfaction.
build Client relationships that go beyond the immediate project and establish yourself as a strategic partner and your client's "go to" trusted advisor for general business advice.
guide clients through the full business development cycle from first contact to project close to relationship nurturing
strive to bring expertise and value in every Client interaction by deepening your knowledge of key industries in your region.
keep up to date with the economic climate, changing needs, and challenges facing businesses in the area.
strategically position Advisory's consulting services in crucial areas such as growth, technology, international expansion, operational efficiency, sales, marketing, organizational management and more.
utilize corporate resources and leverage cross-functional skills to maximize client value and create more opportunities.
maintain excellent working relationships with all colleagues within BDC.
remain organized and work with BDC's systems to maintain accurate client records.
keep current with BDC's policies, procedures, norms, and offerings, and develop a general understanding of other business lines.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
If you can answer YES to the following questions, you may be just the person we are looking for.
Bachelor's degree coupled with professional credentials such as MBA, P.Eng., CPA, PMP and/or CMC.
7+ years of experience in business development, generating new business within a consulting firm or services sector.
Experience in or working with financial services sector (banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital) and in working with local entrepreneurs and SMEs is an asset.
Experience in working across a wide array of industries is an asset.
Deep knowledge of the manufacturing sector and industrial automation.
A world-class client service orientation.
A professional, positive, flexible, and collaborative attitude.
Strong emotional intelligence, excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Self-motivated, well-organized, with a demonstrated capacity to create new business opportunities.
A strong network and influence within your local area.
Strong business acumen and critical thinking abilities.
A drive for continuous learning and the capability to develop creative solutions.
An understanding and the ability to navigate through a corporate environment.
The ability to build and maintain productive, positive relationships with Clients and colleagues at all levels.
Excellent verbal written and presentation skills in both official languages (English & French) is a strong asset.
Travel to BDC offices and Client sites within a limited geographic area (Greater Toronto Area, including Hamilton, Durham – specific assignment to be determined), with occasional travel to other locations in the province or Canada, if required.
Driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
