to take ownership of our moulder operations and help us maintain excellent quality and efficiency.

Position Overview

The
Experiemced Moulder Technician
is responsible for the
full setup, operation, adjustment, and maintenance of the moulder
, ensuring accurate profiles, clean finish, and efficient throughput. This role requires a strong, independent operator who can read profiles, work with tooling, troubleshoot issues, and help improve processes on the production floor.

You will work closely with the Tooling Technician, Production Manager, and warehouse team to plan runs, minimize changeovers, and keep jobs moving on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the moulder (e.g., Weinig, SCM, Wadkin or similar).
  • Install, align, and fine-tune cutterheads, knives, and tooling to match drawings and specifications.
  • Perform detailed checks on dimensions, profile accuracy, finish quality, and consistency throughout the run.
  • Adjust feed speeds, spindle settings, chipbreakers, pressure elements, and guides to optimize quality and production rates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tear-out, chatter, vibration, snipe, or inconsistent dimensions.
  • Work closely with the Tooling Technician to confirm knife setups, tooling readiness, and changeovers.
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance of the moulder and related equipment and report larger issues promptly.
  • Train or support junior operators/helpers as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, following company safety procedures and Alberta OHS requirements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience
    operating and setting up moulders in a woodworking, millwork, or moulding shop. (Weinig preferred)
  • Proven ability to independently set up a moulder from profile drawing/template to finished run.
  • Strong understanding of
    cutterhead setup, knife projection, spindle speeds, and feeding speeds
    .
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, profile diagrams, and measurement tolerances.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • High attention to detail, pride in producing clean, and consistent mouldings.
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
