Our client based in Edmonton is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of fluid containment and control products in North America.
 
The successful candidate will be given significant responsibilities for feature design,
development and maintenance. Tasks will include adding new features to existing
products, maintaining older products, and exploring the integration of new technologies.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work alone, and as part of a team. They will
have significant input into the technical and product development decisions made by the
company.
As the Junior Systems Developer you will be a member of an integral team
responsible for developing system-based solutions by formulating programs, developing
and maintaining codes and documenting processes for consistency and continuous
improvement. You will collaboratively contribute to the team's initiatives with the support
and guidance of your team members.
 
You will:

• Participating in the design and execution of program coding to implement features of small to medium
complexity.

• Contributing to an implementation and back-out plan for a single system.

• Assisting with unit testing for developed code, verifying functionalities and supporting system and user
acceptance testing.

• Develop and troubleshoot applications

• Develop database tables and queries

• Administer virtual machines and environments

• Transform verbal concepts into final designs

• Participate in product and feature implementation
 
You have:

• Demonstrable ability to program.

• Demonstrates accuracy and a strong attention to detail

• Effective time management skills, able to multi-task

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Understanding and/or experience in working in an Agile framework and/or DevOps environment

• Can troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing realistic and innovative solutions

• You are a do-er and love to see things through to completion

• You strive for constant improvement in yourself and the company you work for

• Proactive at problem solving

• Ability to work under pressure and effectively deal with conflict
 
Technologies

• Proficient with HTML, CSS, Sass, JavaScript, and Git workflow

• Comfortable in both Windows and Linux environments

• Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu flavor) server environments

• Experience with Python development and Python data transformations. (2+ years)

• Experience with SQL scripting on one or more platforms Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, etc. (2+ years)

• Understanding of backend APIs
