Care Taker (Home Child Care Provider)

Wage:
Ontario minimum wage $17.6 hour (paid hourly; monthly or bi-weekly pay)

About the Role

We are looking for a responsible and caring
Care Taker (Home Child Care Provider)
to support our family in our home in Pickering, Ontario. The successful candidate will provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for our children while helping with routines, activities, and childcare-related tasks.

This role is based in our private home.
Live-in accommodations are optional
.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and care for children in the employer's home
  • Assist with daily routines, hygiene, dressing, and meals
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals for children
  • Organize games, learning activities, outings, and play
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Light housekeeping related to childcare (laundry, cleaning play areas, tidying rooms)
  • Monitor children during rest periods
  • Use positive, non-physical guidance and discipline

Requirements

  • Experience caring for children (formal or informal)
  • Ability to work independently and follow routines
  • Good communication skills in English
  • CPR/First Aid certification an asset
  • Reliability, responsibility, and good judgement

Work Setting

  • Employer's private household
  • Care for children of the employer
  • Live-in option available

  • Meals included (3 per day)
  • ESA-permitted deductions apply
  • Live-out also permitted

Schedule & Hours

  • 35 hours per week
  • Overtime paid after 44 hours/week per Ontario ESA
  • Occasional evenings/weekends with notice

Compensation & Benefits

  • Ontario minimum wage
  • Vacation:
    2 weeks (4%), vacation accrual starts January 1
  • Public holidays
