Job Description:
On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Network Engi neer based in Cambridge, Ontario for a 12 month contract.
We are seeking a skilled
Network Engineer
to lead and execute
network upgrade projects
within a
Windows-based environment
. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing network infrastructure upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime, security compliance, and optimal performance.
*Key Responsibilities:*
- Plan, design, and implement
network upgrades
, including hardware, software, and security enhancements. - Upgrade and migrate
network infrastructure
components such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems. - Ensure
seamless integration
with existing
Windows-based servers and enterprise systems
. - Perform
network assessments
to identify areas for improvement and optimization. - Work with
cross-functional IT teams
to ensure smooth deployment and minimal service disruptions. - Implement
security best practices
to protect against vulnerabilities during and after the upgrade. - Provide
troubleshooting and support
for network issues post-upgrade. - Document upgrade procedures, configurations, and best practices.
*Requirements:*
- 7+ years
of experience in
network engineering
and infrastructure upgrades. - Strong knowledge of
network protocols
(TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs). - Experience with
Windows Server environments
, Active Directory, and Group Policy. - Hands-on experience with
Cisco, Juniper, or other enterprise-grade networking equipment
. - Understanding of
firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security principles
. - Experience with
cloud networking
(Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments) is a plus. - Strong problem-solving and
troubleshooting skills
. - Certifications
such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
