Based in Toronto and focused on North America, the Sr. Manager will help drive the full lifecycle of eBay's venture investment program, from sourcing and evaluating breakthrough startups to supporting commercial collaboration opportunities between portfolio companies and eBay's global teams.
In this role, you will be a core partner to the Head of eBay Ventures and an important representative of eBay within the broader entrepreneurial and venture capital community. You'll actively engage with founders, investors, and ecosystem partners, while working cross-functionally with leaders across eBay to translate strategic priorities into high-impact venture investments.

Job requirements:- Working in collaboration with eBay Ventures team, conduct research and actively source and screen innovative businesses relevant to eBay, and together proceed to various assessments of these businesses
- Manage an efficient evaluation and tracking process, including outside-in assessment, due diligence and financial modelling - where required supported by the legal and other eBay teams
- Create all necessary materials/memos for investment consideration, review, and governance, incl. all necessary documents for the Investment Committee to make an investment decision
- Help prepare updates to executives and key stakeholders on the overall health of the portfolio
- Help manage relationship with eBay Ventures partners, including financial investors
- Represent eBay Ventures externally at industry events, founder meetups, and ecosystem gatherings; help create thought-leadership content and support the design and delivery of events and community-building initiatives.
- Work closely with portfolio companies to accelerate their success, including identifying and driving commercialization opportunities in partnership with eBay teams
- Maintain and enhance venture pipeline and screening tools, help coordinate innovation activities across internal and external stakeholders, and promote collaboration between portfolio companies and eBay teams.
- University degree in engineering or business management
- 5+ years of experience in e-commerce, investments, venture capital
- Experience in strategy consulting or as a start-up founder/operator is strongly valued
- Established network within the North American VC and start-up ecosystem, with particular strength on the East Coast.
- Self-starter with a bias for action, speed, and results
- Ability to form clear, well-reasoned points of view, paired with the openness to evolve those views based on new information and insights
- Team player with strong analytical and strategic thinking; have a sense of initiative and autonomy as well as high level of commitment
- Strong interpersonal as well as collaboration skills and ability to create new connections
- Passion for and a solid understanding of technology and business models
