The University of Manitoba, Department of Surgery, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Shared Health Manitoba invite applications for a full-time academic Orthopaedic Surgeon to commence on March 1, 2026 (or on a date mutually agreed upon).
This is a geographical full-time, contingent position and the successful candidate will be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. Renumeration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibilities and requires individuals with clinical and teaching skills to further the aims of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and tertiary care medicine.
Successful applicants must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba , and , must have completed at least one year of fellowship training i n orthopaedic trauma. They must also be comfortable with com plex musculoskeletal trauma management.
The successful candidate will join an established and cohesive group of four other subspecialty-trained academic orthopaedic trauma surgeons. They will be expected to participate in a 1- in-6 call schedule. Clinic and operating time will be provided. Teaching of medical students, orthopaedic residents, and orthopaedic trauma fellows affiliated with the University of Manitoba will form part of normal daily activities. As part of the academic group, the successful candidate will be expected to both lead and participate in specific research activities. To this end, candidates with an advanced degree supporting research and/or education will be given preference.
The group performs the majority of complex, tertiary orthopaedic trauma in the province of Manitoba and adjacent regions (approximately 1.6 million people) . The team cohesiveness has been key to the success of the group, and, therefore, the successful candidate must have a team-oriented approach to clinical and academic work and appropriate supportive skills to achieve these goals.
