Service Dispatcher
who thrives on managing workflow, maximizing technician productivity, and keeping the shop running smoothly and profitably.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and organized
Automotive Service Dispatcher
to manage technician workflow and shop productivity. This role is critical to controlling
cycle time, technician efficiency, and overall service department performance
. The ideal candidate understands dealership operations and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispatch repair orders to technicians based on skill level, certification, and job complexity

  • Actively manage shop workflow to minimize delays and improve cycle time

  • Monitor technician availability and adjust assignments throughout the day

  • Prioritize waiters, internal work, warranty repairs, and comeback vehicles

  • Coordinate with Service Advisors to provide accurate job status updates

  • Work closely with the Parts Department to ensure parts availability prior to dispatch

  • Track and manage open repair orders to prevent aging and stalled vehicles

  • Ensure completed labor lines are properly booked for payroll and billing accuracy

  • Support warranty compliance by assigning work to qualified technicians

Performance Focus Areas

  • Cycle time reduction

  • Technician productivity and efficiency

  • Effective labor utilization

  • Hours per repair order (H/RO)

  • Shop flow and stall management

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in an automotive dealership service department required

  • Dispatcher, Shop Foreman, or Technician experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of repair orders and labor operations

  • Ability to multitask and make real-time decisions

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Proficient with dealership DMS systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, etc.)

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment
