Location: Montreal, Full time in office

Valnet is seeking a highly analytical and driven Investment Analyst to help run the acquisition lifecycle and to manage our internal investments.

The ideal candidate must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment. This person will report directly to the Head of M&A and will work closely with our Brands and the rest of the leadership team in regards to future and potential acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the entire acquisition lifecycle: sound knowledge of the competitive landscape, sourcing, pipeline growth, capital deployment, valuation, negotiating, due diligence assisting counsel with purchase agreement drafting, integration/management (operations): with the ultimate objective of driving results in line with IRR expectations.
  • Manage our internal investments by leading/co-leading operations with content/business partners and driving operational/financial results as per budgeted expectations.
  • Assist investment team's needs with ad hoc requests, i.e. operational and financial modeling/budgeting/tracking/KPIs, while also assisting with special projects/reporting/meetings/presentations, etc.
  • Ideating and presenting new investment opportunities.
  • Co-lead and/or assist portfolio management/operations on special mandates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or in a related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, VC, or corporate development.
  • A strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques and due diligence processes.
  • A strong self-motivated learner with strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
  • An affinity for adtech, media or technology.
