ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Transportation Planner provides basic transportation planning knowledge and inputs to support the development of long-term and short-term transit and transportation plans and strategies and participates in planning projects.
Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and support the delivery of TransLink projects. Provides assistance in the development of initiatives and supports planning activities.
Assists with planning and coordination of TransLink's programs and contracted services.
QualificationsRequires completion of a university degree in Urban Planning/Design, Planning, Engineering, Public Policy or a related discipline. Minimum of one (1) year experience either in a transportation planning environment or other similar environment requiring application of core planning skills such as conducting research, analyzing data and/or visualizing data to inform structured decision-making processes and plan development, or public and stakeholder engagement. A further period of one (1) year is required on the job to become familiar with TransLink's policies, procedures, plans and project initiatives.
Other InformationThis role will be supporting the Transit Network Management team which is responsible for developing near-term transit service plans and service changes for Metro Vancouver, ranging from annual and quarterly and up to 10-years time horizons.
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Work Schedule37.5 hours per week.
This is a full-time temporary position for 11 months.
Work DesignationHybrid
This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Rate of PaySalary $6,918 - $8,309 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
The Total Compensation Package includes Extended Health, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan upon eligibility.
