We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced
Inuktitut - Qikiqtaaluk Nigiani Dialect Instructors
to teach highly motivated public service professionals in a dynamic, supportive, culturally grounded learning environment.
The ideal candidate is passionate about
Inuktitut language, cultural transmission, and adult education
, bringing both linguistic expertise and cultural insight to the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
· Teach the Qikiqtaaluk Nigiani dialect
, integrating authentic
cultural, social, and traditional context
.
· Deliver
student-centered lessons
using the
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)
approach.
· Follow the
training plan (curriculum)
while incorporating your
creativity, traditional knowledge, and real-world language use
.
· Use
technology, multimedia, and mobile tools
to enhance learner engagement and support a
meaningful learning experience
.
· Contribute to a
collaborative, supportive teaching community
by sharing resources, practices, and cultural insights.
Minimum Requirements:
- Highly proficient speaker of the
Qikiqtaaluk Nigiani (South Baffin) dialect - Bachelor's degree
in linguistics, languages, literature, second language teaching, philology, or related field - OR
- Bachelor's degree in another field
with at least 500 hours of teaching experience with adults - Strong knowledge and appreciation of Nunavut Inuit cultures, traditions, and values
- Experience teaching or facilitating learning for adult learners
- Proficiency in English and/or French
(Canada's official languages) - Comfortable using
digital tools, multimedia, and online platforms - Willingness to take part in training and orientation
- Flexibility to teach in both onsite and online formats
