Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Older Adult/Senior Companion to provide Companionship, Accompaniment and Support Services to seniors in their homes or Assisted Living neighborhoods.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors, ensuring their comfort and safety and enjoyment while promoting independence. This role is essential in helping seniors maintain their daily routines and providing assistance with various tasks.

It is a Casual On-Call position with anticipated hours between 1-10 hours per week

Duties

• Provide companionship, accompaniment and emotional support to older adults/seniors, engaging them in conversation and activities.
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal non-medical care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
• Support mobility and independence by assisting with walking or transferring from one location to another, which may involve heavy lifting.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring that their living spaces are tidy and organized.
• Monitor clients' health and report any changes or concerns to family members and/or healthcare professionals.
• Facilitate social interactions by organizing outings or activities that promote engagement within the community.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with older seniors with kindness, trust and friendship
• Knowledge of senior care needs is essential
• Effectively provide Companionship & Accompaniment services, ie Dr appointments, shopping, coffee or ice cream outings
• Ability to perform some lifting as required for client mobility assistance, ie walker or wheelchairs in and out of vehicles
• Must be reliable, compassionate, and possess a strong work ethic.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License. Certification in first aid or CPR is a plus but not mandatory.
• A willingness to undergo background checks as part of the hiring process is required.
