Applications are invited for eight (8) regular part time positions of Clinical Supervisor in the Myhal School of Nursing, in the Welland Campus. The starting hourly rate is $41.89/hr ($41.89-$48.77) for a 16- or 24-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary, and hours of work will have varying shifts including days, evenings, and weekends. Hours will be reduced during non-clinical periods throughout the academic term by up to 10 weeks in the calendar year.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Post Graduate Studies & Clinical Education, the successful candidate will organize appropriate learning experiences in clinical placements for students in programs within the Myhal School of Nursing. This role will act as a resource for students, clinical placement agencies, administrators, staff, and faculty, to support the completion of the clinical site-specific portion of these programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  
  • Communicate with academic administrators, program staff, students, and clinical placement partners 
  • Provide feedback to students in the moment of care delivery and throughout the course of the clinical day
  • Utilize educational, agency, College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and government guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Review and provide feedback on weekly student self – evaluations/reflections
  • Record daily anecdotal observations on student clinical performance, progress, and reflective practice
  • Make changes to clinical assignments and organizational plans to accommodate unanticipated events
  • Observe and directly supervise students carrying out client care, nursing interventions, and medication administration
Qualifications:   
  • Current registration in good standing with the CNO as a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, or Registered Practical Nurse
  • Two (2) year diploma in Nursing or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of recent, relevant clinical experience and extensive knowledge of nursing in various settings
  • Current CPR BLS Certification
  • Experience using Health Information Systems (HIS), for example: Point of Care (POC) and Point Click Care (PCC)
  • Class "G" license and access to vehicle or ability to arrange own transportation to attend assigned location(s)
  • Ability to think critically, prioritize responsibilities, and demonstrate initiative and flexibility in problem solving
  • Working knowledge of the College of Nurses' Professional Standards and Entry-to-Practice Competencies
  • Ability to provide a clear police clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check as required throughout the duration of employment
  • Ability to provide a mask fit as required
  • Ability to provide proof of TB testing including annual 1-step Mantoux testing and previous documentation of a negative 2-step Mantoux
  • Proof of appropriate vaccinations (COVID-19, etc.) per regulations at third-party clinical partners
