Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
- Assist clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in condition.
- Support clients with daily living activities and encourage their independence.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Document client progress and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being and companionship.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Collaborate with family members and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living, home care, nursing home, or senior care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Experience with medication administration is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
- A background in hospice care or working with persons with disabilities is advantageous.
