Your Role In Supporting Our Members
As the Lending Technology Manager – Retail & Commercial Lending, you will lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of technology solutions supporting Vancity's retail and commercial lending portfolios. You will partner across business, credit risk, operations and IT to ensure end-to-end lending processes (from origination to servicing to portfolio management) are supported by scalable, secure and member-centric systems. Your focus will be on driving digital transformation, operational efficiency, data-driven decision making, and regulatory compliance.
This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at Vancity head office. Our head office is based in Vancouver, but we are open to candidates in BC and Ontario. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed.
How You'll Make An Impact
Technology Strategy & Delivery
- Define and execute the technology roadmap for lending platforms (retail and commercial) aligned with Vancity's strategic objectives
- Lead end-to-end solution delivery including requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, system implementation, integration, go-live and post-launch optimization
- Partner with business stakeholders (Retail Lending, Commercial Lending, Credit Risk, Operations, Digital) to translate business needs into technical requirements
- Ensure systems support member experience, automation, straight-through processing (where possible) and scalability across product portfolios (e.g., mortgages, term loans, lines of credit, commercial lending)
- Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., automation, workflow orchestration, data analytics, APIs) for application in lending contexts
Operations & Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements in lending workflows (origination, underwriting, approval, servicing, portfolio monitoring) through technology enablement
- Monitor system performance, user experience and operational metrics; establish KPIs to measure success and drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with Credit Risk, Compliance and Audit teams to embed controls, governance and regulatory adherence into technology solutions
Team & Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor a team of technology professionals (business analysts, developers, system integrators) focused on lending tech
- Manage relationships with external vendors, third-party service providers and internal IT teams; oversee contracts, SLAs and performance
- Ensure change management and user adoption are appropriately managed for lending systems enhancements
Data, Reporting & Analytics
- Work with data teams to ensure lending technology solutions feed accurate, timely data into analytics and reporting platforms supporting insight-driven decisions (credit portfolio performance, delinquency monitoring, member segmentation)
- Ensure data governance, integrity and security standards are maintained
Risk, Compliance & Security
- Ensure lending technology systems meet regulatory requirements (e.g., BCFSA, OSFI-relevant guidelines, data privacy in Canada)
- Partner with Information Security and Technology Risk teams to ensure secure architecture, controls over lending systems, vendor risk management, change management and incident response
What You'll Bring To The Team
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent; MBA or Master's in Finance/Technology is an asset
- 7–10 years of experience in technology leadership roles within financial services, preferably focused on lending platforms
- Proven track record managing delivery of lending systems including origination, underwriting, servicing and portfolio management
- Strong understanding of retail and commercial lending processes, credit workflows, product lifecycles and financial services regulatory environment
- Experience with vendor selection, system integration, API design, cloud technology, SaaS platforms, workflow automation and data analytics
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to engage both business and technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving, strategic planning and decision-making skills; comfortable in dynamic, agile environments
- Knowledge of Canadian banking regulations, credit risk controls and data privacy/security frameworks preferred
- Ability to lead change, drive adoption and foster a culture of continuous improvement

- Strategic – You think long-term and align technology with business goals
- Collaborative – You build strong partnerships across technical and business teams
- Analytical – You use data to drive decisions and optimize performance
- Adaptable – You thrive in dynamic environments and lead change effectively
