Health Care Shift Lead


Site Description:

The Labrador Health Centre is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.  The hospital has 25 beds, a 24-hour Emergency  Department and Outpatient Clinics, staffed by Family Physicians.  An education agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland trains Family Practice Residents with faculty members on site.  Each Family Physician is also responsible for the medical care of a North Coast community.  Specialists include a General Surgeon, an  Anesthetist and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.  There are a number of visiting specialists who provide services at the Labrador Health Centre on a regular basis.

Position:  Full-Time Shift Lead
Site: Labrador Health Centre
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: Monday - Friday with flexible hours (for emergencies/support)
Payrate: $26.63 / hour
Posting Date: December 11, 2025

Key responsibilities:
The site Shift Lead(s) is responsible for the oversight of the operations of the team, in conjunction with the needs of the site, and will:

Ensure all site staff adhere to all Paladin Security Policies and NL Health Services Occupational Health and Safety policies and proceduresRegular communication and engagement with NL Health Services site Management.Ensure all Security Officers have received the mandatory site orientation, training and required compliance trainingEnsuring superior customer service skills and a passion for helping people. Able to think quickly on your feet and defuse difficult situationsMotivates staff and recommends commendations to their respected SupervisorDocument and investigate security incidents and complaints, ensure all proper documentation is forwarded in accordance with the chain of command in a timely manner.Daily paperwork would include advanced reports are completed, sign in sheets, overtime has been checked and authorized, shift swaps are authorized and documented for approval, incident reports documented and written properly. Check for updated documents from the client to action. Any forms or information left by staff for filing or follow up and any other daily paperwork that must be filed or forwarded such as ticket batching.Supervise the security officers assigned to the site and act as a resource for security issues in accordance with the health authority and regulatory requirements. Assist all officers with responsibilities delegated to them.Assist with departmental site schedule, ensuring that all shifts are covered and assist with coverage where needed.There will also be unscheduled and scheduled meetings to attend and last-minute bookings for sick employees or coverage of shifts if necessary.Perform site patrols and responding to all necessary codes and calls.Assist with conducting regular fire drills and security education sessions. Maintain records and prepare incident reports and other safety and security incident documentation. Perform other duties as requested by the client NL Health Services in conjunction with Paladin management.

Prerequisites:

Clean letter of conduct and Vulnerable sector checkValid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)Valid class 5 driver license English (oral and written) fluency is a mustPrevious experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the positionPlease be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
