Job Description
Our client is an employee‑owned consulting firm specializing in mining, water, and environmental services. Their multidisciplinary teams support complex projects across the full mine lifecycle, delivering practical, technically rigorous solutions for industrial and mine‑water treatment.
They're seeking a Senior Geochemist to join the Mine Water Management group in Vancouver, working alongside geochemists, hydrogeologists, and engineers on applied water‑treatment and geochemical‑mitigation projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead design and implementation of geochemical and water‑quality programs for industrial and mine‑water treatment
- Manage, analyze, and interpret laboratory and field water‑quality data
- Develop and apply geochemical models (PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, MODFLOW, MIN3P, GoldSim)
- Use code‑based tools to evaluate datasets and develop statistical summaries and visualizations
- Prepare clear, client‑ready technical reports and presentations
- Guide and review bench‑scale and pilot‑scale treatment studies
- Support client meetings, project planning, and quality assurance
- Mentor junior geochemists and contribute to technical development within the group
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geochemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- 10+ years of relevant experience in mining, industrial water, or environmental consulting
- Strong ability to independently manage projects, interpret geochemical datasets, and develop defensible technical deliverables
- Proven technical writing skills for treatment studies, design support, and regulatory submissions
- Effective communication skills and comfort collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience designing and executing geochemical and water‑treatment characterization programs
- Applied experience using PHREEQC for treatment or geochemical evaluations
- Familiarity with active and passive industrial or mine‑water treatment systems
- Experience scaling treatability studies to pilot or field‑scale designs
- Experience using R or similar tools for data management and statistical analysis
- Project coordination or client‑facing experience
- Work on technically challenging mine‑water projects across active and closed sites
- Collaborate with experienced technical specialists in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment
