Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our precision mold manufacturing team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and quality of mold machining operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on CNC machining experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Machining Operations:

• Interpret engineering drawings and 3D models to plan machining processes.
• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to manufacture prevision mold components according to specifications.
• Select, install, and set up tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets.

Quality & Inspection:

• Perform in-process checks and verify part dimensions using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
• Ensure all machined parts meet tight tolerances and mold quality requirements.
• Minimize waste, prevent tooling damage, and optimize insert and carbide usage.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

• Conduct daily machine checks, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of machining issues.
• Report equipment malfunctions and support corrective actions.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with CNC programmers, supervisors, and team members to resolve part setup challenges and quality issues.
• Record machining activities in job tracking systems or MES software.
• Support housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives within the machining area.

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in training and process improvement programs to enhance machining efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase unattended runtime performance.

Performance Metrics (Illustrative):

• Quote vs. Actual Performance: Match or beat estimated machining hours and costs.
• Deadline Performance: Deliver components in line with production schedules.
• Unattended Runtime: Achieve and sustain minimum unattended machining ratios.
• Quality Performance: Minimize rework by adhering to precision and process standards.
• Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety on the shop floor.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision inspection tools.
• Familiarity with machining large, complex mold components to tight tolerances.
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
• Proficient with CNC machining and machine offset adjustments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on quality and efficiency.
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a cross-functional shop floor environment.

Working Environment:

• Manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial equipment
• Use of PPE is mandatory.
• Fast-paced, detail-oriented environment requiring proactive problem-solving and strong communication
