Job Summary And Requirements
This opportunity is for a permanent position working 75 hours biweekly.
The Workers' Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) administers workplace health and safety and workers' compensation in the territory. WSCB's mission is to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses in partnership with employers and workers and to support workers when injuries occur. We take care of injured workers by facilitating their stay at work, return to work and recovery.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Mine Safety, the Project Engineer supports the WSCB in overseeing mining operations throughout the Yukon Territory. Responsibilities include reviewing mining plans, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with the Workers' Safety and Compensation Act and Workplace Health and Safety Regulations. These responsibilities are conducted at a professional level in the various phases of mine construction and operation, from preliminary engineering through to project reclamation.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline) from a recognized institution;
  • Significant experience in mining, heavy industrial, or construction environments;
  • Experience managing and supporting engineering projects with a strong health and safety focus;
  • Significant experience in the mining sector, including experience reviewing or developing mine designs, and experience with mining operations and mining methods;
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or completion of coursework toward either designation would be considered an asset.

Conditions Of Employment

  • Have and maintain RCMP Security Clearance.
  • Eligible for registration, or registered, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Yukon.
