About the team and the role:
*This is a Fixed Term Full Time w/benefits contract*
Reporting to the Live Lead for eBay Canada, you will play a key role in shaping the future of live commerce at eBay.
As the Category Manager-Collectibles & Trading Cards for eBay Live – Canada, you will act as the P&L owner for your assigned verticals—responsible for driving Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) through the strategic development of seller pipelines, innovative account management and outstanding buyer experiences.
This role blends commercial leadership, content programming, and community building, requiring a mix of analytical rigor, creative storytelling, and cross-functional agility. You'll work closely with other members of the Live team to bring Canada's live commerce strategy to life.
What you will accomplish:
Business Performance: Achieve GMV targets for assigned categories by owning and delivering, tracking performance, and iterating dynamically. Define and measure meaningful metrics for content efficiency, category health, engagement and seller performance.
Category Strategy: Define and refine category growth plans that align with business priorities, buyer trends, and seller readiness.
Category Management: Partner with the PPE Manager and sellers to ideate and implement live events that reflect category priorities and buyer interest. Track and analyze seller performance and event impact to identify key growth levers. Lead category-specific budgets (e.g., incentives, production support, pilot initiatives).
Account Management: Serve as a thought partner for sellers, guiding them through content ideation, performance strategy, and growth plans.
Business Development: Partner with BD Manager to recruit and qualify high-potential sellers, brands, and creators with strong live selling potential.
Internal Customer Management: Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and Ops to deliver seamless seller and buyer experiences. Partner with Programming, BD and Onboarding team to align on seller lifecycle strategies and event programming.
Leadership: Act as a category expert and advocate within the broader Global eBay Live and eBay Canada teams. Champion a strong editorial voice and aesthetic standard for live content across your category.
What you will bring:
5+ years of experience in e-commerce category management, vendor management, business development, or account management—ideally within a marketplace or live commerce environment.
Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to deliver GMV targets, manage trade-offs, and make data-informed decisions.
Deep understanding of digital commerce trends, especially in video/live shopping, influencer commerce, and retail passionate about the community.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently influence internal customers and external partners alike.
Ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment.
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with attention to operational detail.
Comfortable working autonomously and across distributed teams.
Experience working with sellers or influencers is a strong plus.
