Senior Adjuster (Bodily Injury)

Location: Toronto West or East

Pay Range - $75,455 - $102,194

Closes October 30, 2025

Work Location: This role is eligible for hybrid – this means you'll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office, on a scheduled rotation.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating, negotiating, and settling complex automobile bodily injury claims in accordance with the prescribed authority.

Key Accountabilities

Note: This section is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities – other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Claims Adjusting

  • Investigates bodily injury claims.

  • Evaluates claims and sets up adequate reserves.

  • Analyzes information gathered, determines coverage, and assesses liability and damages.

  • Negotiates with claimants and lawyers and settles within authority limits.

  • Maintains effective communication with experts, management, and internal and external counsel.

  • Attends mediations, settlement conferences and pre-trials.

  • Acts as a resource and provides support, guidance, advice, and direction to less experienced staff.

Customer Experience

  • Supports corporate culture and vision which fosters positive relationship with our insureds.

  • Provides timely and professional customer service.

  • Handles claims issues and resolutions in a proactive manner.

Stakeholder Relationship

  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with insureds, brokers, service providers, legal counsel, company, and industry participants.

Leadership

  • Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.

  • Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports the development in others.

  • Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.

Corporate Management

  • Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic, and divisional strategies. 

  • Manages risk in area of authority.

  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.

Education & Experience

  • A two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business.

  • 5 – 7 years' experience in adjudicating claims, including 4 years specifically with Bodily Injury claims.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of insurance, claims policies and procedures, and  automobile insurance products.

  • Knowledge of Ontario's automobile accident benefits legislation and regulations, including the statutory accident benefits schedule.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of the various acts governing negligence and liability, and their application to injury claims.

  • Knowledge of the legal process as it relates to bodily injury claims.
