Job SummaryThe TYLin Whitby, ON office is seeking a 4-month intern for Water and Wastewater projects. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of projects that encompass the full spectrum of administration, planning, analyses, design, and implementation of municipal works. This position is for a five (5) days in-office role and will report to a Project Engineer in Water and Wastewater team. The candidate will be provided with mentorship and training as required for the role.Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Creating conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings including Plan and Profiles through AutoCAD Civil3D, engineering reports, calculations, specifications and cost estimates for water and wastewater projects
• Performing calculations and analysis using engineering formulas for design of sanitary and storm sewers, and watermains
• Assisting the project team in delivering projects, and with the preparation of feasibility studies and functional plans
• Assisting in applying for and obtaining the necessary permits and approvals to proceed with construction
• Coordination with Suppliers and contractors for industry standards and shop drawings
• Working on multiple projects simultaneously through different phases
• Assisting with contract administration and construction inspection duties on project sites as required
• Assisting with business development efforts including proposals and time task matrices
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation is an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality results.
• Willingness to learn new software and ability to apply it
• Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
• Excellent organization, time management, and negotiation skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong technical writing skills
• Ability to learn the approval process, including design guidelines and standards
• Ability to learn the planning process and EA process
• High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way
• Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence
• Ability to time manage and prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines
• Experience with ArcGIS is an asset
• Experience with Environmental Assessment is an asset
• Class G License and use of own vehicle is an asset
