The Granite Club is looking for a Karate Instructor who will be responsible for providing creative and innovative quality programs Members' children.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide excellent care of children, ensuring that a safe play area is maintained.
Set-up area with appropriate equipment for the program facilitating.
Provide program plans, specific to the program, that encourage creative, social and gross motor skills development where applicable.
Provide snacks and refreshments to children ensuring a nut free environment is maintained while being familiar with participants dietary restrictions where applicable.
Ensure a clean, neat and sanitary environment.
Attend meetings and give session feedback to the Child and Youth Activities and Camps Coordinator.
Remove and report any damaged or unsafe toys, games and equipment to the Child and Youth Activities and Camps Coordinator.
Complete attendance record and inform the Child and Youth Activities and Camps Coordinator of any non-registered participants that need to be registered. 
Handle general inquiries 
Provide daily updates to the Child and Youth Activities and Camps Coordinator.
Complete a playground inspection as needed, prior to bringing participants to the playground when applicable
Establish positive relationships with parents
Other duties as assigned.

Other if Specified on Contract: Karate Instructor

Lead structured and disciplined karate classes for children.
Teach fundamental karate techniques, including strikes, blocks, and kicks.
Focus on building physical fitness, coordination, and self-defense skills.
Incorporate lessons on discipline, respect, and martial arts philosophy.
Adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and skill levels.
Ensure a safe training environment by enforcing proper safety protocols and supervision.
Organize belt assessments and year-end exhibitions to showcase student progress and achievements.

Required Qualifications

Minimum grade 12
Over two years of teaching experience in martial arts is essential.
Experience working with school aged children is an asset.
First Aid and C.P.R. certification required.
Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
Must be able to work variable shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.
