Plant Manager

Aplin has partnered with a Wallaceburg-based company, a leading manufacturer of material handling equipment and machines, to hire a Plant Manager for their growing operations.
Reporting to the Executive Committee and the company president, the plant manager will manage and direct their production, coordinate manufacturing departments' functions to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will lead teams and serve as a liaison between upper management and staff, including management of the day-to-day functions of the plant. He/ She must be dedicated to achieving operational excellence with a genuine interest in helping the company succeed.
Responsibilities:
- Ideate and implement strategic visions to improve production, quality, and labor utilization throughout the facility
- Provide the leadership needed to ensure the effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment
- Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of all continuous improvement activities
- Investigate and implement innovative methods of manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve the quality of the product
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to design, specify, and validate world-class manufacturing processes to achieve organizational goals
- In collaboration with the Joint Health and Safety Committee and all employees, ensure existing policies are being followed
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all manufacturing operations of production, machinery, processing, and packaging departments
- Highly effective at translating business priorities into operating realities with a demonstrated ability to work at all levels (with customers and internally) to implement operating plans safely, within budget, and with quality and schedule requirements
- Ensure that all schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities, customer requirements, economic performance, and planning, expediting as needed
- Assist with the establishment of material storage and replenishment methods and quality standards
- Manage the continuous improvement of metrics in support of the organizational goals and objectives
- Budget and manage manufacturing cost structures by developing and maintaining operational expenses within budget allowance and investigating cost-reduction measures
- Create documentation protocols and ensure that all operations records are properly maintained and reviewed
Qualifications:
- BA or BS in operations management, business, engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of plant operations or engineering experience
- Union experience is highly preferred
- Proven supervisory skills and demonstrated leadership skills
- Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Strong scheduling/planning knowledge. A reasonable understanding of ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, preventative, and predictive
- Project Management experience is a plus
- CNC knowledge would be an asset
