Fitness Instructor

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Coordinator/Programmer, Active Living, this casual position is responsible for providing motivating and high-quality instruction for a variety of fitness classes and levels at recreation facilities Town-wide.

• Prepare and deliver progressive fitness programs based on program objectives and required

industry standards
- Provide program instruction/leadership at the appropriate skill level of participants; offer modifications when necessary.
- Start and end programs on time
- Perform administrative tasks (i.e., attendance, preparation, injury, and Incident Reports etc.)
- Attend team meetings and training sessions
- Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, customers, and facility operations
- Assist in providing a clean, healthy, safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is

stored as required

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an active professional with Current Standard First Aid with CPR- C, Certified Fitness Instructor (Can Fit Pro or equivalent), or other specialty certification, a demonstrated understanding of different training methods (e.g., strength, cardio, flexibility, and functional training) and experience and knowledge with strength and cardio conditioning equipment. In the process or obtained post-secondary degree/diploma in Kinesiology/Recreation would be an asset.

The candidate will have demonstrated excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, organization skills with attention to detail. This candidate will also possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for these positions.
