Edmonton AB TH V, Canada Alberta Health Services Full time

Your Opportunity:

A Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family care in an acute surgical unit following RAH and AHS policy and procedures. PCU 22 is a fast-paced 24-bed inpatient surgical unit providing care to ophthalmology, otolaryngology, bariatrics, urology, plastics, OMF and general surgery inpatients. Patients are received from the operating room, emergency department, outpatient areas, intensive care units, and directly from home and/or medical clinics. We have collaborative nursing care on all shifts with Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses working cohesively within the collaborative model of care. Unit orientation will be established based on experience. LPNs work independently and under the direction of a Charge RN. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line; supporting and maintaining high-quality patient care strategies within the surgery program. LPNs are expected to direct and monitor the care provided by health care aids. Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital serves a unique inner-city population and we want to do it well. The Surgery Inpatient program maintains the expectation that all employees do so with pride, compassion, and respect.
