Job Description: Reporting to the Director, Communications Services, the Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing communication strategies that directly impact how the Saskatchewan Health Authority communicates key initiatives, internally and externally, to diverse stakeholders including employees, physicians, patients, health system and union partners, government, and the public. The Specialist uses best-practice tools and corporate channels to communicate projects related to—but not limited to—labour relations/disruptions, privacy, policy, safety in an ever-changing and complex environment. 

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

  • 3-5 years' experience in communications, preferably within large, diverse public organizations

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Business, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations

Other Education & Training

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable

Licenses

  • Valid class 5 driver's license

  • This is a provincial role, responsible for creating and implementing internal and external communication strategies and plans that directly impact how Saskatchewan communities experience health care, and impacts the SHA's reputation, credibility, and audience engagement. The Specialist provides sound communication advice to SHA leaders and uses strategic communication to build trust, promote understanding, and connect people to vital primary health services. The Specialist transforms complex health information into clear, accessible messaging for diverse audiences that includes patients and families, care teams, and community partners while creating and distributing engaging content across multiple channels. The Specialist collaborates with leaders and stakeholders to shape inclusive, people-centred communication that reflect SHA's strategic priorities, and participates in the after-hours on-call rotation for emerging issues and crisis events.
