Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager to join our food retail team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting store operations, managing staff, and ensuring excellent customer service. This position offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall success and growth of the store. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily activities, micro-managing all staff, assisting with sales strategies, and maintaining a positive shopping experience for customers. Bilingual abilities are highly valued to better serve our diverse clientele.
Duties
- Assist in supervising daily store operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to all company policies.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping of employee hours and schedules.
- Oversee merchandising, pricing strategies, and inventory purchasing to optimize sales performance.
- Operate POS systems efficiently, handle cashiering duties, and manage cash handling procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and fostering customer loyalty.
- Conduct training & development sessions for staff to enhance product knowledge and customer interaction skills.
- Assist with marketing efforts to promote store events and special promotions.
- Monitor store budgets and ensure organizational office efficiency.
- Supervise team management activities including delegation, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and uphold store presentation standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail management or supervisory roles with a strong background in sales management, merchandising, or store operations.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse customers effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic math skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in supervising teams and developing staff through training & development programs.
- Knowledge of negotiation, marketing strategies, budgeting, purchasing, and retail sales techniques.
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and interpersonal communication abilities.
