About the Role

We are seeking a Chemical Engineering Summer Student to join the Brookfield Renewable and Transition team for a 4-month term in Summer 2026 in our Calgary office. Reporting to the VP, Carbon Technology, the student will support existing transition investments and support future investments for the Brookfield Global Transition Fund. This role provides hands‑on experience with carbonization reduction technology/projects, and techno‑economic evaluations that contribute directly to our transition strategy

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete research on energy transition technologies and develop technical summaries, internal briefing notes, and presentation materials for leadership.
  • Assessment of CO₂ transportation options, including pipeline systems, operating envelopes, and performance metrics.
  • Development of carbon management techno-economic models for different transition pathways
  • Support review of feasibility studies, and project documentation for transition investment
  • Assist with preparing inputs for financial models, emissions calculations, and system performance evaluations.

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years completed of a degree in Chemical Engineering (or related) undergraduate program
  • Understanding of sustainability trends, and best practice including in decarbonization,
  • Coursework related to carbon capture or energy transition technologies is an asset.
  • Proficiency with engineering software/tools (Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, Python, Excel modelling),
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and willingness to engage with complex engineering challenges.
  • Solid analytical skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Well organized and ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas into clear, concise summaries
  • Self-motivated and curious, with demonstrated initiative;
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn about energy transition technologies.
