Position
Logistics Supervisor, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Manager, Procurement, this position will be based in the Edmonton office, AB, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage airfreight and sealift logistics, coordinating with suppliers, consolidation warehouses, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate the receipt, inspection, and onward transportation of goods and materials from consolidation centers and transit hubs to the mine site.
- Arrange and track shipments to consolidation points, ensuring proper itemization, quality control, and crating prior to transport.
- Expedite time-sensitive or high-priority shipments, ensuring timely communication with end users and efficient delivery.
- Monitor all shipments in transit, promptly addressing any delays, damages, or discrepancies with proactive solutions and communication.
- Collaborate with customs brokers and carriers to ensure timely and compliant customs clearance for all shipments.
- Review and approve freight invoices for accuracy, track logistics expenses, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency.
- Prepare logistics documentation, including packing lists, manifests, invoices, and insurance claims; ensure timely updates in SAP.
- Evaluate performance of logistics contractors and freight providers using KPls, recommend improvements, and contribute to logistics planning and reporting for management.
- Ensure full compliance with B2Gold's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures throughout all logistics activities.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Seven (7) years' experience in logistics, including airfreight, sealift, consolidation, and international shipping including three (3) years in a supervisory position.
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS CSCP, ISM CPSM) is an asset; Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
- Practical knowledge of shipments processing in accordance with DOT regulations and hazardous material labeling requirements.
- Proficiency in using SAP and ERP software; Advance skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
