De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is excited to announce the addition of a group of highly experienced aerospace professionals to our organization Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October 2023, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.
Profile
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on professional for the position of Electrical and Avionics Engineer. The position is based in Mississauga, ON. The Electrical and Avionics Engineer will be responsible for designing and supporting engineering and design activities. This includes contributing to design and certification activities, generating ground and flight tests procedures, and providing on-site support during aircraft testing. Additionally, the role involves conducting electrical analyses, preparing technical reports, and generating test documentation.
As part of the engineering team, you may be designated as a project manager for specific initiatives including maintaining effective communication with customers, addressing their needs while aligning with Company objectives. This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering and work closely with TCCA delegates, the design manager and the planning and administrative departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement avionics and electrical modifications, including integrating new equipment and avionics systems.
- Create block diagrams, detailed wiring diagrams, wire routing drawings of the new systems.
- Ensure the design meets the applicable specification requirements, and appropriate industry regulations including CAR, FAR or CS.
- Prepare or review technical requirements documents, system/ground/flight test procedures and reports, certification reports.
- Survey aircraft to determine the best design solution for modification.
- Integrate the development activity of avionics systems with internal and external groups as well as participating in meetings and reviews with certification authorities.
- Support of ground/flight-testing including witnessing of tests may be required.
- Provide technical support for production, procurement, and customers as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with other technical teams and end users.
- Engage with senior engineering members and TCCA delegates, seeking input and guidance as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Aeronautical/Aerospace Avionics/Electrical Design / Testing Experience of a minimum of seven (7) years and preferably in Aftermarket modification, is considered an asset.
- Professional Engineering designation or eligibility for PEO is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of typical aircraft systems architecture.
- Aircraft electrical design experience with solid CAD skills (Autodesk AutoCAD).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Collaborative team player, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative, strong sense of responsibility, and sound technical judgement.
- Ability to manage several concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and adapt creatively in a fast - paced, evolving business environment.
