Job Description:
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for an Infrastructure Specialist to provide highly specialized senior technical leadership and coordination for the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) for data centre operations, network, storage, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure management and administration activities and projects in a mission-critical, multi-platform, and multi-protocol environment. To provide authoritative technical expertise and leadership and recommend related solutions, network management tools, and options to enhance network operations.
Responsibilities:
• Provides senior technical leadership for FSRA data centre network, storage, virtualization, and cloud environments.
• Deliver enterprise automation initiatives using PowerShell, Azure Automation, and IaC (Terraform/Bicep) to eliminate manual tasks and increase deployment consistency.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, change management, and Tier 3 support for production releases and infrastructure services.
• Leads technical assessments and reporting to improve infrastructure stability and ensure alignment with vendor-supported software, firmware, and patch levels.
• Coordinates testing, transition, and operational acceptance of projects, ensuring compliance with architecture, change controls, and integration requirements.
• Advises on infrastructure best practices, standards, and security compliance, and ensures operational documentation, policies, and procedures are current and enforced.
• Plans and leads complex infrastructure projects, providing technical guidance, issue resolution, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and security recommendations.
• Manages operational and project administration, cost monitoring, and vendor deliverable validation.
Qualifications:
• 10–15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure
• 7+ years in senior or lead roles covering Data centre operations, network, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stream infrastructure projects, managing production environments with strict change control, and coordinating operational acceptance and transitions.
• Demonstrated extensive working knowledge across:
o Enterprise routing/switching, firewalls, load balancing, WAN, SD-WAN
o SAN/NAS, replication, backup, DR, performance tuning
o Hyper-V, container platforms (Kubernetes knowledge an asset)
o Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, identity, automation, monitoring, and cost optimization).
o Windows Server, Linux
o Capacity planning, performance management, incident/problem management
o DR/BCP, vulnerability management, patching, access controls
Certifications:
• Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Terraform Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
• CCNP (or equivalent experience)
• Certified Veeam Engineer
• ITIL v4 (Intermediate or Managing Professional preferred)
