What's The Role
The Product Handler – Sherwood is part of a team of nine people at the site, responsible for delivering safe and reliable operations to serve Shell's fuel customers in the local market, as well as acting as a supply point for other Shell terminals in the network. Adherence to both Shell and regulatory compliance requirements, respect for Shell's Code of Conduct, and maintaining our "License to Operate" are essential. This role is crucial in supporting day-to-day operations and serves as a key interface with contractors and carriers, overseeing product handling, stock accounting, and providing truck rack driver support.
The Sherwood Terminal receives refined products (gasoline, distillate, and biofuels) via pipeline and truck and ships out products via truck and pipelines (Alberta Products Pipeline/ Enbridge).
The terminal operates continuously, 24/7, with support from Product Handlers. The Product Handler position follows a rotating shift schedule, with occasional overtime as needed.
Product Handlers are responsible for all operational duties related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of its products. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain compliance with company procedures and government regulations related to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) and various agency permits
- Provide 24/7 truck rack driver support
- Ability to solve loading rack malfunctions and troubleshoot other terminal systems
- Ensure driver competence in the safe loading / unloading of hydrocarbons onto and out of trailers
- Operations surveillance via site rounds
- Perform product sampling, testing, and stock accounting
- Handle manual labor tasks including snow clearing, grounds maintenance, unloading deliveries, and water management
Ensure compliance with company and regulatory procedures in the execution of the job such as:
Compliance with the Safety, Environmental and Asset Management (SEAM) Standards
- Compliance with the Global Terminal Operations Manual
- Compliance with the Distribution Measurement Manual
What You Bring
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma
- Experience in a similar industry is considered an asset
- Experience in front line barrier management (FLBM) such as emergency response and asset management is a plus
- Proficient in computer skills, including Excel, Word, email, and texting
- Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
- Willing to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation
- Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends.
- Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
- Willing to support and comply with the company's safety policies and initiatives
