Job Description

Why This Role is Extraordinary

At Egis, we're shaping the future of urban mobility by redefining how people move, connect, and experience their cities. As the Vice President, Municipal Roads, you will lead our mission to deliver resilient, people-focused municipal infrastructure that strengthens communities and sets new standards for sustainable, integrated, and high-quality street design across Ontario.

This role is more than leadership, it requires an expert with deep technical knowledge in municipal roadway planning, design, and delivery. You will bring hands-on experience and strategic insight to guide a diverse portfolio of projects, from early planning and Class EA studies to detailed design and construction. You'll ensure that Egis continues to set benchmarks for innovation, quality, and community-focused mobility solutions.

You'll inspire multidisciplinary teams, foster a culture of collaboration and creativity, and position Egis as a market leader in municipal roadway engineering. From complete streets and multimodal corridors to intersection improvements, streetscape design, and municipal servicing, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of Ontario's communities and public spaces.

You will oversee and motivate teams based in Ottawa and the GTHA, supporting delivery of transformative projects that enhance safety, accessibility, and mobility. Your leadership will help Egis push the boundaries of innovation while delivering the practical, high-impact infrastructure that cities rely on every day.

What You'll Do

Visionary Leadership

  • Execute a bold vision for Egis's Municipal Roads practice across Ontario, positioning Egis as a leader in complete streets, municipal mobility, and people-focused infrastructure.
  • Anticipate market trends and industry shifts to drive forward-thinking strategies and capture growth opportunities.
  • Establish a high-performing team culture centred on collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Support professional development opportunities to cultivate the next generation of municipal engineering leaders.

Operational and Financial Excellence

  • Take full accountability for the financial performance of the Municipal Roads team, setting and achieving ambitious revenue and profitability targets.
  • Lead proposals, work plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring operational excellence and efficient resource management.
  • Ensure quality management processes are implemented and consistently followed on all projects.
  • Oversee municipal infrastructure projects of varying scale, ensuring technical excellence, client satisfaction, and successful delivery.
  • Manage resource planning and delivery schedules to ensure on-time performance and alignment with organizational goals.

Business Development and Market Leadership

  • Cultivate strong relationships with municipalities, public-sector clients, and industry partners, becoming a trusted advisor.
  • Lead pursuits for major municipal infrastructure projects, including roadway reconstruction, corridor improvements, active transportation networks, and streetscape enhancements.
  • Partner with the commercial and business development teams to drive strategic pursuits and key client initiatives.
  • Secure partnerships that strengthen Egis' capabilities and reputation in the municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Expand Egis's presence across Ontario, with a strong focus on the GTHA while leveraging opportunities across additional municipalities.

Technical Expertise and Mentorship

  • Serve as a recognized expert in municipal roadway and multimodal corridor design, offering guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical direction to engineers, designers, and project managers.
  • Support hands-on design leadership and project management.
  • Ensure designs meet or exceed applicable standards.
  • Lead multidisciplinary coordination with internal teams in bridges, drainage, traffic, geotechnical, transit, landscape architecture, and environmental services to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Guide technical delivery for a wide range of project types, including geometric design, active transportation design, utility coordination, stormwater management, Class EA assignments, and streetscape and public realm improvements.

Qualifications

  • Proven Leadership: 20+ years as a Professional Engineer with extensive experience in municipal roadway design, transportation engineering, or municipal infrastructure delivery.
  • Inspirational Presence: A leader who inspires teams and clients through collaboration, clarity, and technical excellence.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of geometric design, multimodal corridors, municipal servicing, traffic improvements, and interdisciplinary project delivery.
  • Client-Focused Drive: Strong relationships and experience working with Ontario municipalities.
  • Financial Acumen: A strong understanding of consulting engineering, project delivery, profit and loss responsibility, and business performance.
  • Cultural Agility: Bilingual ability in English and French is an asset.
