About the Job:

Type: Full time/Permanent

Wage: $19.50 per hour + $1.00 per hour afternoon shift premium

Shifts: 2-week Rotation shift, Day Shift is M-F 6:30am to 3 pm ; Afternoon Shift is: 2:30pm to 11:00pm, OT might be needed sometimes for Saturdays

Summary
Under close supervision, the Lube Tech( Technician I ) performs minor routine maintenance and repair services on different types of vehicles. Works with the assistance of a T2, T3, T4, TIC SS or SM, when performing technical and diagnostic type repairs. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage development in a productive manner.

Essential Functions

·       Performs basic vehicle maintenance. Perform component identification and minor repairs. Perform preventive maintenance with training and support. Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable. Identifies root cause of "minor" failures/conditions and perform repairs as required

·       Performs facility maintenance duties

·       Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available

·       Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

·       Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT,MOT)

·       DIESEL/GAS ENGINES-ALL ENGINES

·       FUEL SYSTEMS

·       STEERING AND NON-DRIVEN AXLES AND ALIGNMENT

·       SUSPENSION-CHASSIS AND CAB

·       VEHICLE COUPLING SYSTEM

Requirements

·       A Valid Canadian Driver's license required (Class G2 or above )

·       Ability to read and/or listen and understand information and ideas communicated

·       Must be able to work "shift work" and weekends as required

·       Strong mechanical skills

·       Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and perform all entry level tasks

·       Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computers intermediate required

Qualifications

·       H.S. diploma/GED preferred

·       Basic tools, required

·       One (1) year or more experience in transportation maintenance, preferred

·       Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computers, intermediate required

·       Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
