We are hiring a relief part time (0.77 FTE) Mental Health and Substance Use Worker (MHSU) Worker to join our Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) team in Kamloops, B.C. This relief position is until the return of the incumbent.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health care, with experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals experiencing first-episode psychosis. They will demonstrate expertise in evidence-based interventions, case management, and recovery-oriented practices while working collaboratively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. This role requires excellent communication, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build trust with young people and their support networks.

A commitment to early intervention, ongoing education, and reducing stigma around mental illness is essential. If you have strong assessment and intake skills and are comfortable responding to crisis situations in the community this could be the right opportunity for you.

What Will You Work On?

The EPI service is a multi-disciplinary team who provide evidence based, specialized, holistic and age and culturally safe interventions and supports for people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, their first episode of psychosis between the ages of 18 to 30 years and their families.

The Substance Use Worker functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

The Substance Use Worker provides assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Substance Use Worker functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Scheduling Information:

Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30, 08:30 to 15:30 hours. Days of work are Mon- Wed, Thurs 08:30-15:30 hours.

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position,

Two years' recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver's license (Class 5).
