Reporting to the Warehouse and Packing Manager, the Warehouse and Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day packaging and warehouse operations. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant packaging, storage, and shipment of finished sugar products while administering the collective agreement fairly and consistently. This position serves as a key liaison between management and unionized employees, promoting a respectful, productive, and compliant workplace.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL:

  • Supervise packaging and warehouse activities;
  • Ensure packaging lines meet production, quality, and food safety requirements;
  • Coordinate workflow with production, quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics teams;
  • Monitor finished goods and packaging material inventories;
  • Address operational issues while respecting job classifications and scope of work;
  • Support budget preparations, projects, monthly and yearly inventory counts;
  • Assign work, manage staffing, create weekly work schedules and schedule overtime;
  • Address attendance, performance, and conduct issues using progressive discipline procedures;
  • Participate in investigations, grievance responses, and fact-finding meetings as required;
  • Document incidents, coaching, and disciplinary actions accurately and objectively;
  • Complete performance reviews;
  • Approve and manage employee's timecards;
  • Enforce all workplace safety rules and policies in compliance with regulatory requirements with the objective of zero harm;
  • Conduct toolbox talks (safety meetings), safety observations/inspections, and incident investigations;
  • Develop/participate in hazard assessments and rescue plans;
  • Develop standard operating procedures, one-point lessons, work instructions, provide training and verify compliance;
  • Cover shipping scale operations as required;
  • Bill out orders and manage incoming/outgoing railcars;
  • Monitor maintenance requirements, create work orders and requisition;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO JOIN THE TEAM:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics, manufacturing, or operations preferred;
  • 3–5 years of experience in warehouse or packaging operations in a manufacturing environment;
  • Prior experience supervising unionized employees strongly preferred;
  • Working knowledge of collective agreements, grievance processes, and progressive discipline;
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and documentation skills;
  • Solid understanding of food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements;
  • Proficiency with warehouse systems, Business Central software, Power BI, Worximity (Tile +), Maximo and Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required;
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50lbs;
  • Willingness to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
