We're looking for a Senior Cloud Specialist who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
You will primarily be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of Suncor's Private Cloud infrastructure. Secondarily, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and influence into other platforms such as Windows/RHEL servers, Azure, AWS, containerization, Ansible, Tanium, and more. You will also lead initiatives for system upgrades, automation, and troubleshooting complex issues, while overseeing the overall Private Cloud tasks to ensure successful completion of key objectives.
Requirements:
- Post secondary degree/diploma
- 10+ years in IT operations and the ability to demonstrate a firm grasp of enterprise operations processes
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and sustaining enterprise level VMware environments
- Scripting languages experience with particular focus on Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with Azure Local (Stack) is considered an asset
- Up-to-date technical certifications are considered an asset
Maintain a Dynamic Environment:
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for VMware (including vCenter, ESX, Aria) and Azure Local with focus on reliability, security, automation, and disaster recovery
- Manage our partnership with HPE for GreenLake
- Continuous improvement focused on making our private cloud service offering more robust
- Play a key role in resolving incidents, ensuring rapid response, and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence
- Engage in cross-functional initiatives, taking on tasks outside your immediate role, to support team goals and contribute to broader company objectives across all of our cloud platforms
Location and other Key Details
- This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
- On-call support is required of this role.
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based on years of experience and scope of work.
