Position Title: Volunteer – PA Study Squad Workshop Facilitator

Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario (Virtual)
Reports To: Varun Midha, Volunteer & Program Coordinator
Time Commitment: Flexible; Minimum 3–5 hours per month
About the Program:
PA Study Squad – Learn, Grow, and Succeed Together
At Project Abraham, we understand the challenges high school students face while balancing academics, extracurriculars, and personal life. PA Study Squad is a volunteer-led initiative supporting newcomer youth in Ontario, helping them build the skills needed to succeed academically and personally. Through interactive, group-based workshops, we create a supportive environment that fosters confidence, motivation, and growth.
Volunteer Role Overview:
We are seeking passionate, reliable volunteers from the GTA to help develop and facilitate skill-building workshops for newcomer youth (ages 13–26). This is not a tutoring role—volunteers help design and deliver engaging, peer-focused sessions on topics such as:
- Time & Task Management
- Study Strategies & Academic Self-Care
- Essay Writing Techniques
- Preventing Academic Burnout
- Overcoming Procrastination
- Goal Setting and Motivation
Volunteers are encouraged to bring creativity, energy, and collaboration to workshops, creating a welcoming space for youth to learn from one another.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing interactive, youth-focused workshop content
- Co-facilitate or lead 45-minute group sessions virtually
- Engage youth participants and encourage discussion
- Support outreach efforts to increase program participation
- Uphold confidentiality and maintain inclusive practices
Ideal Volunteer Qualities:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Passion for youth development and education
- Comfortable leading virtual sessions (Zoom, Teams)
- Empathetic, encouraging, and collaborative
- Experience in education, youth programming, or peer mentorship (asset, not required)
- Ability to work with diverse communities and newcomer youth
- Complete a background check (reimbursed by Project Abraham)
- Have a device and internet connection
