We are currently seeking a Shop and Yard Assistant to join our team in Nisku, AB.  This is an entry-level position responsible for supporting shop operations and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.  The successful candidate will assist with general housekeeping, yard maintenance and provide manual labour support to the shop team. 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide manual labour and ground support to shop operations including moving equipment and materials. 
  • Assist with shipping and receiving of equipment and supplies. 
  • Assist the Property and Equipment Manager, Shipper & Receiver, Welders, and Mechanics as assigned.   
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and yard, perform basic upkeep such as painting. 
  • Document work duties performed on company Work Orders when applicable. 
  • Use hand tools, small power tools, and portable equipment as required. 
  • Adhere to the company's Safety Management System, including participating in hazard identification and control. 
  • Operate forklift and other heavy equipment as needed. 
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Speak, read and write English fluently. 
  • Effective communication skills with staff and contractors
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize responsibilities. 
  • Ability to consistently achieve targeted deliverables accurately.
  • Experience in shop/yard/warehouse is an asset.
  • Physically fit and can perform labor intensive duties in all weather conditions. 
  • Basic knowledge of hand and small power tools.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License with a clean drivers abstract & reliable transportation.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test prior to employment.
  • Successfully complete a 50lbs, Level II Health Assessment.
  • Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry & Monitor ticket an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Customer focused with a team player attitude.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40+ hours/week).
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary to meet project deadlines including evenings and weekends. 
  • Supporting operations both in a shop and outside in the yard, working in all weather conditions.  

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting at $18.00 per hour
