Job Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Optician to join our optical team. The ideal candidate will assist patients with selecting eyewear, perform measurements, and ensure a seamless experience from consultation to product delivery. This role offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment dedicated to improving vision health and customer satisfaction. The Optician will play a vital part in providing exceptional service, leveraging their optical expertise, and supporting retail operations.

Duties

  • Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions, lifestyle, and personal preferences
  • Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame sizing
  • Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear care
  • Process orders using optical software systems such as Epic and manage patient records accurately
  • Perform adjustments and repairs on eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort
  • Collaborate with optometrists and other team members to deliver comprehensive eye care services
  • Maintain a clean, organized optical dispensary environment
  • Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products and accessories
  • Stay informed about the latest optical products, trends, and industry standards

Requirements

  • Prior experience in optical settings or laboratory work is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care is advantageous
  • Experience with retail sales, especially in optical or healthcare environments, is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail for accurate measurements and recordkeeping
  • A professional attitude with a commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Certification or licensing as an optician is must
