YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Position: Day Camp One on One Counsellor

Location: Stoney Creek YMCA, 920 Sunningdale Rd East, London ON N5X 0H5

Start Date: June 13th, 2026

End Date: September 4th, 2026

Salary: $18.30/per hour

In this role, you will:

• Provide support to campers with special needs at a ratio of 1:1
• Ensure safety and well-being of campers with constant supervision
• Adapt programming and activities to the abilities of the child
• Integrate camper into regular camp programs as much as possible

Education/Experience:

• Each candidate needs to be at least 17 years or turning 17 years old during calendar year and possess:
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR B or C
• YMCA Healthy Child Development
• Verification of a clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Position Screening
• Experience supporting children with special needs in a recreational setting
• Experience working in day or residential camp
• Positive, caring, enthusiastic, encouraging attitude
• Must have own transportation or ability to get to any London day camp site as assigned
• Participation in non-violent crisis intervention training is recommended
• Participation in All Kids in Camp One on One Conference is recommended
