Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal) – Union Position

Location: Langley, BC

Employment Type: Full-Time

Wage: $55/hour (Union Rate)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working on heavy-duty construction equipment, including excavators. This is a unionized position offering a competitive wage. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe operation of our equipment, supporting ongoing construction and site operations.

Your day-to- day will like

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy equipment including excavators, crawler tractors, wheel loaders, articulated trucks, and other construction equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
• Work with preferred equipment brands such as CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, and Volvo.
• Provide support and mentorship to apprentices, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
• Operate and maintain a contractor-supplied service truck with required equipment and certifications.
• Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and inspections.
• Follow safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations while performing all work.
• Ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
• Qualifications & Skills
• Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience servicing and repairing heavy construction equipment.
• Familiarity with major construction equipment brands (CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo).
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and collaboratively within a team
• Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and adherence to operational procedures

• Technical Skills:
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in welding and equipment boosting (12VDC / 24VDC).
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools and onboard systems.
• Capable of performing crane-supported lifts with a hydraulic service truck crane.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently in the field or shop environment.
