Carlsberg Canada recently purchased Waterloo Brewing Ltd. so Carlsberg Canada includes the production, distribution and commercialization of Carlsberg and Waterloo products as well as various co-manufacturing partnerships.
Role Summary
The Jr. Accountant is responsible for planning, organizing, and administrating accounting activities associated with maintaining the General Ledger including management of the subledgers. This role will work closely with the Finance team, and interacts with all departments to empower partnership with Finance to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy. This role is based out of our Kitchener office with periodic travel to Oakville.
What you'll be doing
- Perform & execute month-end journal entries.
- Perform & execute month-end accrual analysis to support finance business partner.
- Perform & execute balance account reconciliations.
- Perform & execute bank account reconciliations.
- Perform & execute royalty payment calculations.
- Perform & execute sales agent commission calculations.
- Perform & execute selected tax returns including GST, HST, QST, WHT, and Specific Tax.
- Support year-end with auditors.
- Support in bi-annual internal control audits.
- Automate existing processes to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with partners in other departments to collectively drive business results.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in manufacturing finance.
- Support and maintain Carlsberg Compliance training and Accounting Guidelines.
- Be an integral part of the Accounting Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we're looking for
- A University/College degree in accounting, along with a professional accounting designation such as CPA, or actively working towards obtaining one.
- 1+ years relevant experience in accounting.
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel).
- Results-driven, self-starter with an innovative mindset.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and supply chain management concepts.
- Demonstrated planning, leadership, and time management skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interact with all members of the extended finance team to work towards the core principles of the department.
- Consumer Packaged Goods experience preferably within Food and Beverage industry.
- Experience in the manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with accounting databases and systems (MS Dynamics Business Central & Jet Reports experience would be an asset).
