Environmental Monitoring Solutions is the construction and insurance industry's trusted professional consulting group throughout the province of Alberta and the Northwest Territories. EMS is an Environmental Consulting firm specializing in providing occupational hygiene consulting, air monitoring and related analytical services made up of a group of trusted professionals specializing in consulting services related to asbestos, mould, indoor air quality and occupational/industrial hygiene. Core business areas include representing and working for clients during hazardous materials assessments, preparing specification and scope of work documents, emergency response services, as well as air monitoring and site inspection during large- and small-scale demolition, renovation and maintenance projects. We are proficient members of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Testing (BAPAT) Program for the Analysis of Bulk Asbestos Samples and are also participants in the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA) proficiency analytical testing program for the analysis of asbestos air samples.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate and conduct on-site assessments, surveys and sampling relating to hazardous materials in compliance with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislative requirements.

  • Conduct on-site air monitoring, site inspection and daily reporting for hazardous materials abatement projects (asbestos, mould, lead, PCB's, mercury-containing materials, ozone depleting substances, chemicals, etc.).

  • Conduct Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments, monitoring and data collection in a investigative manner to identify source problems and develop mitigation strategies for client's buildings and the environment.

  • Fungal Assessments and post remediation verification air sampling and inspections.

  • Present findings and results to team members and project stakeholders.

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations using Microsoft Office 365 applications and other software tools.

  • Maintain an organized laboratory environment, ensuring equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.

  • Assist with project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.

  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors.

Skills/Education/Experience:

- A degree, diploma or certificate in fields relating to Environmental Sciences, Health & Safety, or Construction.

  • Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist (ROHT), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designations will be considered an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, maintaining equipment and microscopy experience is an asset.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for technical report writing and documentation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges.

  • Valid drivers license, insurance and personal vehicle is required. Work-related travel expenses will be compensated.

  • Available for business travel and extended working hours as may be required.
