Clinical Applications Specialist, MRI
The Opportunity
The MRI Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS) is an essential part of Synaptive Medical. Your primary responsibility will be to provide clinical support to customers, on-site, by acting as a knowledgeable and highly skilled technical resource for our MRI system. At the assigned site(s), the CAS is expected to manage all clinical requests and support a clinical growth strategy for product adoption and utilization of the MRI system.
What You'll Do
- Set-up. operate, and ensure that the MRI system is performing in an effective and efficient manner. Provide collaborative support to the Service team as requested to assist in basic troubleshooting when an MRI system has a perceived performance concern. Knowledge of and dutifully follows MRI safety practices for the protection of the patient, volunteers, colleagues and self at all times.
- Perform on-site clinical scanning of patients on the Synaptive MRI system. Maintain high standards of practice and excellence in imaging quality and patient care.
- Prepare and assess patients for MRI including MRI safety screening, confirm exam validity support the Radiologist as is necessary. Complete exam process of image review, confirming documentation and ready scanned images for radiologists via PACS
- Develop, maintain, and manage MRI set up, operating and applications training material and curriculum. Develop imaging procedures that will result in optimum quality outcome. Explore and apply improvements.
- Responsible during the initially startup of new clients by training customer MRI technicians on the safe operation of the MRI system in both Canada and the USA. Provide system set up scanning support as needed during the application support period of the system installation.
- Support commercial inquiries and clinical evaluations of Synaptive MRI products at new client accounts in support of the MRI system sales process with a customer.
- Provide oversight and direct customer engagement in managing MRI show sites and ensure Synaptive commitments for the show sites are achieved.
- Collaboratively work with the product management and engineering teams through the MRI development cycle. Contribute to the development of new protocols and sequences, adjusting those as needed to gain the ultimate outcome for our customers.
- Perform MRI imaging for research studies and assist in the analysis of the data as necessary. Assist in the development of papers with partners and scientific teams, both internal and external. Ensure appropriate safety and support for research subjects.
- Support and demonstrate the use of Synaptive MRI technology at medical education, marketing, and sales events. Represent Synaptive at trade shows and exhibitions as requested.
- Provide customer feedback to Synaptive product management and engineering teams
- Adhering to Synaptive's mission. value statements and policies while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Local and non-local travel which would include periodic consecutive weeks of travel to support new site launches and set up, ensuring customers are proficiently trained and supported.
- The employee may perform other related duties as necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent with the completion of a recognized post diploma program in MRI certification required and recent clinical MRI experience in an academic and or outpatient environment of 2 to 5 years.
- Must have working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) required
- Proven problem recognition with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management skills: ability to organize work and set priorities
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, as well as the ability to work as an autonomous professional
- Strong customer service and relationship building skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to bring customer satisfaction situations to a successful completion in a timely manner
- Advocate for safety consistently demonstrating the principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe operating environment for all.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
- A valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel to the US is required
It'd Be Amazing If You Had
- Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Prior experience with training on operating, applications, and sequences for an MRI system
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment at all sites
- Experience working with software for medical applications, PACS, DICOM
- Proven ability to multi-task and work efficiently with a broad range of research protocols involving young and elderly volunteers and individuals with neurological conditions.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
