IT PnD organization is seeking a BIE Manager to join our Data and Analytics team. As a BIE Mgr with our team, you will be working in a large, complex and dynamic, data-driven environment with limited guidance. You will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of complex BI solutions, defining team strategy, and influencing organizational BI architecture.
This position requires the candidate to work efficiently on complex and ambiguous problem areas, take a long-term view of solutions, and demonstrate technical leadership. You will need to develop deep understanding of data lineage across the organization, earn trust with senior leadership through strategic insights, and drive business understanding through robust, scalable solutions.
To succeed, you must have the ability to lead large projects requiring multiple team members, make appropriate technical trade-offs for long-term needs, and communicate effectively with management audiences through narratives and strategic recommendations
Key job responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions for complex and ambiguous problems
- Take ownership of BI infrastructure and provide system-wide design guidance
- Drive BI engineering best practices and set standards for operational excellence
- Perform complex business analysis and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Design and implement technical solutions with appropriate analytics strategy and data set design
- Lead large projects that require work of multiple team members, dividing work effectively
- Mentor and develop other BIEs, providing technical assessments for BIE II and BIE III promotions
- Build consensus and resolve contentious technical issues across teams
- Influence organizational BI architecture and cross-team data strategies
- Communicate findings and strategic insights to management audiences
A day in the life
A day in the life of a BIE Manager at IT PnD involves leading complex, large-scale initiatives and providing technical leadership to the team. The day typically starts with strategic planning and architecture discussions, followed by hands-on work on the most critical solutions. You'll spend time mentoring junior team members, conducting design reviews, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the organization to ensure BI solutions align with business strategy. The day includes making key technical trade-offs, managing the team and driving best practices that impact the entire organization, all while maintaining Amazon's high standards of operational excellence.
- 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience
- 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with ETL
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software
- 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience
- 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience

The base salary for this position ranges from $110,100/year up to $183,900/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
