About the Role
We are looking for a motivated L1 Technical Support / Dispatch Technician to join our IT support team. This role is ideal for someone early in their IT career who enjoys helping people, solving technical problems, and working in a fast-paced support environment.
You will be the first point of contact for IT issues, responsible for basic troubleshooting, ticket management, and dispatching tickets to the appropriate technical teams while ensuring excellent customer service and SLA compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests via phone, email, and ticketing system
- Log, categorize, prioritize, and dispatch tickets according to established procedures and SLAs
- Provide Level 1 troubleshooting for common hardware, software, network, and user access issues
- Resolve basic end-user issues such as password resets, account lockouts, and peripheral problems
- Monitor ticket queues and follow up to ensure timely resolution
- Coordinate with internal technical teams to schedule support and escalate issues when required
- Communicate clearly and professionally with end users regarding issue status and next steps
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in the ticketing system
- Follow IT policies, security standards, and internal processes
Must Have Skills
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with:
- Desktop environments and operating systems
- Computer hardware and peripherals
- Basic networking and security concepts
- Common software and business applications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service mindset and professionalism
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification from an accredited institution in IT or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 0–2 years of experience in IT support, service desk, or technical support
Requirements
- Must be legally able to work in Canada and reside in the Ottawa area
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
- Controlled Goods Clearance (eligible or able to obtain)
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle for onsite client visits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
